Duncan to race at St Petersburg in Firestone Indy Lights with Genoa Racing
Duncan Tappy (24, West Ewell, UK) has headed to America to make his US debut in the Firestone Indy Lights series at St Petersburg. He is set to compete in the double header with Genoa Racing, a team that has enjoyed success in International Formula 3000, Atlantic, Indy Lights and IndyCar competition.
Duncan will test on Monday at Sebring International Raceway and then drive in the two races on the Florida street circuit. He will have one practice session and two qualifying sessions before the races on Saturday April 4 and Sunday April 5.
Mark Olson, Genoa Racing team owner, said: “Duncan is an outstanding, young talent and we are incredibly excited to have him. His professional experience and understanding of the equipment will fit well into our overall philosophy and approach. We are looking forward to having Duncan on the track and really showing what we can do.”
Duncan added: “This is an amazing opportunity and I’m going to give it everything I’ve got. I’ve not raced a street circuit before but I think I’ve shown that I can turn my hand to most things. It’s going to be a steep learning curve getting to grips with the new car too but I’ll do my absolute best.”
