Tappy is officially a Rising Star
The British Racing Drivers Club has awarded Duncan Tappy ‘Rising Star’ status. Duncan, 21, from West Ewell in Surrey, has been recognised for his future potential by the most highly-respected motorsport organisation in the country.
As a Rising Star, Duncan will have all of the benefits of a full member with the exception of voting rights. One of the distinguishing features of the scheme is that the Rising Stars join on an invitation basis.
The BRDC has scouts out watching for up-and-coming talent and meet regularly to compare notes. Potential candidates are then interviewed as part of the selection process.
Duncan said: “I’m really pleased to become a BRDC Rising Star. It’s just such a huge honour. Being considered by such prestigious people to have talent is very flattering and a big boost.
“My goal is to repay the honour with my driving and results to show that I’m worthy of the award.”
Rear Admiral Roger Lane-Nott CB, BRDC Club Secretary, added: “Duncan has impressed us enormously with his performance in both the BRDC McLaren Young Driver of the Year finals, and last season in Formula Ford.
“He has displayed considerable potential and the BRDC is delighted to include him amongst their Rising Stars.”
